Revitalise Sydney Road

Start: Thu, 27 Apr 2017
Time: 6:00 pm
Finish: 7:00 pm
Meeting place: St Ambrose church 287 sydney Rd

Details

We don’t normally carry news of meetings on Bikefun but just this once, we’ll tell you how to get involved in helping to make Sydney Road safe, fun and full of life.  Revitalise Sydney Road has produced a plan that provides safe, protected bikelanes from Brunswick Road to Bell St, wider footpaths, less delay for trams and better use of parking off Sydney Road.

As we saw down at Acland Street St Kilda, traders are very apprehensive about removal of parking but the results, whether in Acland St or in lots of other places, are always positive for retail. The introduction of disability access tram stops means that planning is underway for changes in Sydney Road. Get involved in the campaign for a better Sydney Road for everyone.

Ballarat Autumn Day (BAD) Ride

Start: Sun, 07 May 2017
Time: 8:00 am
Finish: 4:30 pm
Meeting place: Pleasant Street Primary School, Pleasant Street, Ballarat

Details
The intention of the Ballarat Autumn Day (BAD) Ride is to encourage people to challenge themselves and their families to ride longer distances in a friendly and supportive event over generally quiet country roads. The BAD Ride is made possible by volunteers from the Ballarat Bushwalking and Outdoor Club and is a socially inclusive community ride and definitely not a race.
The very affordable BAD Ride has been running now for 28 years and has become an iconic event in Ballarat.  This year there is a 50km and a 107km option. The routes are well sign-posted and there are helpful marshals stationed on all major intersections. Bicycle mechanics have generously volunteered their time and expertise. Participants are encouraged to wear light or reflective clothing and have effective lights on their bicycle…especially if riding the 107 km route. St John Ambulance will be in attendance.
Participants can book online at www.badrideballarat.com.au
Entries received before April 27th are in the draw to win a Giant hybrid bike from Shaw’s Cycles.
