Like to get out on your bike more often? Grab your gal pals and join our Pushy Women Excursion for a gorgeous autumnal bike path excursion by bike! With good coffee, great company and a farmer’s market picnic our Pushy Women Excursion is the perfect opportunity to remind yourself of all the great reasons to ride.
We’ll be kicking off this wheely good outing with a delicious free coffee courtesy of Green Park Dining, while the mechanics from Velo Cycles next door check over your bike and make sure it’s excursion ready. It’ll be a great opportunity to introduce yourself to your fellow riders, too.
Once everyone is ready we’ll be heading off at a leisurely pace eastwards along the Capital City Trail. There’ll be plenty of time for socialising, admiring the view and checking out the autumn leaves; your ride leaders will guide you so that you can relax and enjoy the whirr of many wheels!
We’ll sweep around onto the Merri Creek Trail, head south over some gentle rolling hills, oooh and aaah as we pass Dights Falls and finally finish up at Abbotsford Convent in time for the Slow Food Farmer’s Market.
There’ll be time to explore the market stalls, and enjoy some of your shopping as a picnic. You can stay at Abbotsford Covent as long as you wish and explore the gallery, studios, bookshop or cafes. But if you do want a guide to help you get home, two of our ride leaders will be heading back north to Velo Cycles just after midday and one will be heading back towards Richmond and East Melbourne for those heading in that direction.
Not sure how to get to Green Park Dining? One of our ride leaders will be leaving from theMelbourne Bike Share station at the cnr Napier St and Victoria Parade at 9:30 to ride up to Green Park Dining. She’ll also pick up anyone waiting at the Fitzroy Town Hall Melbourne Bike Share Station at 9:40. And this means of course that if you don’t have your own bicycle you can borrow one of the Melbourne Bike Share bikes!
Tickets to the Pushy Women Excursion are $10.
This ride is suitable for riders with good bike skills who can ride on shared paths and, if you are taking the Napier St pick-up option, low-traffic roads. All participants must be over 12 years old and those under 16 MUST be accompanied by a guardian who is also enrolled on the ride.
